PM discusses with the Iranian MOI combating drug smuggling

    Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani discussed, today, Saturday, with the Iranian Minister of Interior Iskandar Momeni, security of the common border and combating drug smuggling.

    The Prime Minister's media office stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani received the Minister of Interior of the Islamic Republic of Iran Iskandar Momeni."

    The statement added that "the meeting discussed the development of bilateral relations and issues of common interest, including security of the common border in light of the signed agreements, as well as cooperation in the field of combating drug smuggling and border control, and coordination in the work of border crossings to achieve security and stability." 

    He continued, "The meeting discussed procedures to facilitate the delegation of Iranian visitors to the holy shrines in Iraq, and emphasized the activation of the memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi Ministries of Interior and its Iranian counterpart regarding mutual recognition of driving licenses between the two countries."
