The Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab, revealed today, Thursday, that measures have been taken to maintain a fixed share of water for the marshes despite the decline in imports from Turkey.
Dhiab told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "He visited the marshes to see their current condition, as we confirmed the presence of good quantities of water in these areas, in addition to the presence of many local communities, including buffalo breeders, as well as other activities such as fishing and handicrafts."
The minister added, "We have noticed a positive development in the region, and we hope to continue in this stable situation, away from fluctuations, while relying on providing water in a sustainable manner."
The minister stressed, "We are working very seriously despite the difficult climatic conditions and the decrease in water imports. However, we have made great efforts to maintain a fixed share of water for the marshlands in order to revive them and stabilize the communities that depend on them." He added, "This is the main goal we are working towards, and there are many major events being held to support these areas."
