PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani met the President of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, Aqeel Muften, on Monday.
Al-Sudani congratulated Muften on his election as head of the Executive Office of the National Olympic Committee in the elections held last Saturday, according to a statement by the PM's Media Office - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
He reaffirmed "the government’s strong support for the sports sector and its commitment to enhancing sports projects and programs that contribute to the development of sports facilities, as well as supporting national teams and champions in various sports and competitions."
"The Olympic Champion project was initiated under the current government," he highlighted, emphasizing the importance of moving forward with it.
He noted that this ambitious initiative aims to develop Olympic-level athletes capable of competing in international Olympic events and raising Iraq’s name on the winners’ podium.
