The First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, on Thursday offered condolences on the occasion of the anniversary of the martyrdom of Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Hakim, renewing his call to reject and combat extremist terrorist ideology.
Al-Mandalawi said in a statement, obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "On this painful anniversary, in which we recall the martyrdom of, Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Hakim, we stand in honor of a national and Islamic symbol who gave his life as an offering for the causes of right and justice, and sought to unite the sons of Iraq, and uphold the values of Islam and the homeland away from division and difference."
He added, "As we recall the fragrant biography of the martyr and his great sacrifices, we stress the need for his memory to be alive in the hearts of all of us, as a motivation to promote the values of solidarity, reject differences, and work together for a secure and stable Iraq, reiterating his call to reject and fight the extremist terrorist ideology that has claimed the lives of many innocent people in Iraq and the world."
