Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, called on today, Saturday, the government to implement the Parliament’s decision related to the removal of foreign forces from Iraq, while he referred a request signed by more than 100 representatives to the (Legal, Security, and Defense) committees regarding a proposed law to remove foreign forces from Iraq.
The Media Department of the House of Representatives said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, referred a request signed by more than 100 representatives to the (Legal, Security, and Defense) committees regarding a proposed law to remove foreign forces from Iraq.”.
The statement added, "Al-Mandalawi called on the government to implement House of Representatives Resolution No. (18) of 2020, regarding the removal of foreign forces and the end of their duties in Iraq, based on the development of Iraqi security capabilities and the absence of any new agreement with foreign forces that requires them to remain.".
Al-Mandalawi denounced "the ongoing attacks on Iraqi territory from any party and for any reason, while strongly condemning the American targeting of the Popular Mobilization Forces and their leaders.".
He called for taking the necessary diplomatic measures to protect Iraq's sovereignty, security and stability, and affirmed his support for the government in ensuring that Iraq is a factor of stability in its regional and international environment.
