Interior Ministry: No road blockade is planned as part of the New Year's celebrations plan

    The spokesman of ministry of interior, Brigadier General Mekdad Miri confirmed, on Sunday, during a press conference, attended by the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the ministry has prepared a tight plan that will be free of all road blockades, there will be a large deployment of security and police and we will hold severely accountable any violation of public order," noting that "we will prevent the firing of shots and we will hold accountable those who fire them."

    On the drug file, he stressed that "the ministry was able to dismantle 662 networks, 57 of which are international, and the rate of prosecution rose to 242, the rate of issuing arrest warrants to 110%, and the issuance of 148 death sentences and 587 life sentences with 1656 preventive measures."

    "The crime rate in Iraq has dropped by 18%, and 36,588 suspects have been arrested in all police commands this year," he said.  
     
    On the border file, he explained that "securing the border will reflect positively on the interior, as 3,719 kilometers have been secured in the border areas, 136 kilos of drugs have been seized, 975 cameras and 160 towers have been installed, with a trench dug with a distance of 600 kilometers."
     
     With regard to fires, Miri noted that "the rate of fires decreased by 51%, reaching 1,672 fires with the rescue of 368 citizens, pointing out that "92 diverse networks were arrested between sexual exploitation, begging and human trafficking, 133 victims were freed with 800 arrest warrants issued."
