Prime Minister announces success of Arbaeen visit plan

    Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced today, Sunday, the success of Al-Arbaeen visit plan, and while confirming the allocation of 3.5 trillion dinars to establish and implement 36 service projects related to the millions of visitors, he pointed out that the government has made significant progress in implementing Karbala-Najaf metro project.
     
    The Prime Minister said during a press conference held in the holy city of Karbala, attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "May God reward everyone who contributed, served and participated in the Arbaeen visit," indicating that "Al-Arbaeen visit has become a title for historical adherence to the values and principles left in us by the Husseini revolution."
     
     Service projects to meet the requirements of the multimillion visitors events, announced today, by Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani during a press statement in Karbala, include a total of 37 projects as the first phase out of 102 projects:
     
    1. The first Karbala ring road / from Al-Kafeel to Qantara Al-Salam / 480 billion.
    2. Rehabilitation, expansion, and unification of the design of the Najaf-Karbala road, 80 km long / 179 billion.
    3. Rehabilitation of the Karbala-Baghdad road from Al-Dalla roundabout to checkpoint 54 and the covered river + railway bridge (near Al-Dalla) / 91 billion.
    4. Road linking Karbala to the expressway, route: from Expressway No. 1 – Imam District – Old Babil-Baghdad Road - Al-Kindi's fifth bridge - Al-Daoum area in Al-Ibrahimiyah / 361 billion IQD.
    5. Construction of an overpass intersection on the Karbala-Najaf road at the airport entrance / 10 billion.
    6. Construction of an overpass intersection in Karbala’s industrial area (Western Canal intersection) / 17 billion.
    7. Construction of an overpass intersection at Al-Husseiniya junction on the Karbala-Baghdad road / 10 billion.
    8. Rehabilitation of Al-Fadhliya concrete bridge / 10 billion IQD.
    9. Road linking Najaf to the expressway with the Kufa Bridge / 186 billion.
    10. Maintenance of the Kut-Badra-Mehran road / 26 billion.
    11. Construction of the second lane and rehabilitation of the old lane of the (Duboni-Jissan) road, 60 km long / 108 billion IQD.
    12. Maintenance of the (Malih-Al-Nu'maniyah) road / 10 billion IQD.
    13. Expansion and rehabilitation of the main (Kut-Baghdad) road, 71.5 km long / 179 billion IQD.
    14. Construction of the second lane of the Suwayrah-Jebla-Expressway No. 1 road, 35 km long / 53 billion IQD.
    15. Rehabilitation of the Diwaniyah-Najaf road, (Ghammas-Al-Manathira) section with a bridge / 15 billion IQD.
    16. Expansion and rehabilitation of the (Diwaniyah-Babil) road, 25.3 km long, Phase I to Al-Tali'a District / 48 billion IQD.
    17. Construction of a water treatment plant south of Karbala with a capacity of 16,000 m³/hour with an 80 km pipeline to supply the Najaf-Karbala road / 750 billion IQD.
    18. Construction of the Najaf water project (Al-Radhawiyah) / 17 billion IQD.
    19. Establishment of water bottling plants.
    20. Project to lay a water pipeline from Kufa to the Imam Ali Holy Shrine.
    21. Ice plants.
    22. Construction of 5 pilgrim cities (Badra, Shalamcheh, Safwan, Amarah, and the City for Umrah and Hajj Pilgrims) / 300 billion IQD.
    23. Construction of 6 service centers in border governorates / 12 billion IQD.
    24. Expansion project near the Imam Ali Holy Shrine / pavilion canopies and covered areas for pilgrims.
    25. Rest stations / 13 billion IQD.
    26. Installation of 14 electric pedestrian bridges in Najaf and Karbala / 36 billion IQD.
    27. Construction of Sayyid Joodah Square / 132 billion.
    28. Construction of Al-Dawajin Square / 22 billion.
    29. Construction of Qantara Al-Salam Square / 115 billion.
    30. Construction of Al-Mukhabarat Square / 9 billion.
    31. Construction of Al-Kamaliyah Square / 25 billion.
    32. Construction of Column 662 Square on the Najaf axis / 10 billion.
    33. Construction of North Najaf Square / 58 billion.
    34. Provision of service vehicles / 50 billion.
    35. Completion of the Zurbatiyah border crossing / 70 billion.
    36. Construction of the Sheeb border crossing / 35 billion.
    37. Construction of the Munthiriya border crossing / 35 billion.
     
     The Prime Minister stated that "these projects are on their way to implementation, and within weeks the ministries and governorates will begin their work."
