The Border Ports Commission (BPC) announced on Sunday that the Al-Shalamcha border crossing authorities successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle narcotics into Iraq. Two female travelers were apprehended after being found in possession of over 1 kilogram of crystal meth.
According to a statement from the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “Border inspectors at Al-Shalamcha, in coordination with relevant security departments, arrested two individuals—one Iraqi and one foreign national—who attempted to smuggle the narcotic substance into the country.” The narcotics were hidden using advanced methods to evade detection.
An official seizure report was filed, and both suspects, along with the seized drugs, were transferred to the Shalamcheh Customs Police Station for further legal proceedings.
