The Ministry of Oil outlined today, Sunday, the details of the Integrated Gas Development Project in Basra, noting that the project aims to invest 600 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) from Basra's gas fields.
During his attendance at a meeting of the Joint Steering Committee for the Integrated Gas Development Project, the Ministry’s Deputy Minister for Gas Affairs, Ezzat Saber Ismail, stated: "This meeting is aimed at reviewing the completed steps of the project, which is considered one of the most important investment projects in the energy sector, implemented by the Ministry in collaboration with TotalEnergies and a Qatari company."
He added that the project seeks to invest, process, and gather gas from Basra’s fields with a capacity of 600 MMSCFD, along with a solar energy investment project with a capacity of 1,000 MW.
He emphasized the government's and the Ministry’s commitment to implementing plans for utilizing associated gas and halting its flaring, aiming to convert it into energy that supports both the energy and industrial sectors in Iraq.

He highlighted the growth witnessed in this sector due to the current government’s focus on achieving sustainability goals, particularly through the cessation of gas flaring, its development, and environmental protection.
