Border Port Commission-BPC announced on Saturday, the arrest of two travelers in possession of narcotic drugs at the Shalamcheh border crossing.
Based on the directives of the Head of BPC Omar Adnan Al-Waeli, on the necessity of inspection procedures for travelers and goods and combating the scourge of drugs, the Shalamjah Border Port Directorate, in cooperation with the Customs Police and the Narcotics Division, was able to arrest (2) travelers ,they were seized with a herbal substance suspected to be the narcotic marijuana, weighing 540 grams, and a brown substance suspected to be hashish, weighing 388 grams, hidden inside plastic containers used for washing, in a failed attempt to smuggle it and bring it into the country,” A statement by BPC, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated.
"A formal arrest report was prepared and the accused were referred with the seized items to the Shalamcheh Customs Police Station to take appropriate legal measures against them,” The statement indicated .
