Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi stressed, on Sunday, the importance of preserving Syria's security, stability and the safety of its people.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein made a phone call with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi."
"The two ministers discussed during the call the recent security developments in Syria, expressing their concern about these developments, and affirmed their full support for the Syrian Arab Republic, stressing the importance of preserving Syria's security, stability and the safety of its people."
According to the statement "the two sides stressed the need to continue communication and coordination on regional issues in a way that contributes to achieving security and stability and enhancing cooperation between the two brotherly countries."
The Foreign Minister expressed his deep concern about the developments in the region, stressing Iraq's position in supporting the Syrian state and the importance of the role of Syrian national institutions in achieving stability.
The ministry said in a second statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein made a phone call with the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Badr Abdel Aati."
"The two sides discussed the recent developments in northern Syria, especially in the Idlib and Aleppo regions."
"The two ministers expressed their deep concern over these developments, stressing the firm position of Iraq and Egypt in supporting the Syrian state and the importance of the role of Syrian national institutions in achieving stability, combating terrorism, and strengthening the sovereignty of the state.
According to the statement "The two ministers stressed the seriousness of the threat to security and stability in Syria and its impact on the situation in the entire region, pointing to the need to intensify regional and international efforts to ensure the stability of Syria and the integrity of its territories."
