Minister of Water Resources Aoun Diab confirmed today, Wednesday, that the Sixth Arab Water Conference held in Jordan with the participation of Iraq took a unified Arab position supporting the right of downstream countries to obtain fair quantities of water from upstream countries.
Dhiab told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): On the sidelines of his participation in the Sixth Arab Water Conference held in Jordan, "Iraq's participation in the conference is important to clarify the water situation in Iraq, especially since it is one of the countries suffering from water scarcity, especially in recent years as a result of upstream countries establishing water investment projects in it and also as a result of climate developments in addition to the increase in demand for water due to population growth."
He added, "We explained at the conference the water situation in Iraq to our Iraqi brothers and discussed ways to benefit from the experiences of Arab countries in the field of resolving the complicates and problems caused by water scarcity in order to secure the future of water for all consumers."
