We have made several bold decisions to support and stabilize the Iraqi dinar, says PM Al-Sudani

Prime Minister, Mohammad S. Al-Sudani, confirmed his supervision of the completion of the budget law, while indicating that the government continues to support the Central Bank of Iraq -CBI to restore the dollar exchange rate to its official rate.

Al-Sudani in a speech at the official memorial ceremony held in commemoration of the martyrdom of the Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Mohammad Baqir al-Hakim, attended by the Iraqi news agency(INA)," Today, we commemorate martyrdom but with the victory achieved over terrorism, and we honor the sacred sacrifices that granted us security and stability." 

He added: Today, we are about to complete the federal budget bill, which is different from previous years, for this is the first time the federal budget focuses on the government program.

“The government continues supporting the Central Bank of Iraq to restore the US dollar exchange rate to its official rate. This is one aspect of an economic challenge that requires a brave response and practical solutions to end the wrong financial policies inherited by the current government”, he affirmed.

“We have made several bold decisions to support and stabilize the Iraqi dinar, and we warn those who try to exploit the crisis and people's needs”,

Al-Sudani  emphasized that the The exchange rate did not rise as a result of a government decision but rather because some people took advantage of the temporary conditions and turmoil in the markets that were not yet familiar with the new banking mechanisms, which will protect the public money, which is an essential step on the path to economic reform.

“We stress the priority of combating corruption. Our government continues to support the judiciary and the competent authorities to pursue the wanted individuals and endeavors to recover the stolen money”, he also affirmed.

Al-Sudani affirmed,"In all our actions and our plans for the federal budget, we have considered alleviating the disease of poverty in some Iraqi regions and sectors." 

He also added,”At the top of these tasks is the grand social workers' survey project, supporting the lowest-income segments of society by providing food baskets and ration cards.”

Al-Sudani also stressed that the state's responsibility is to plan, develop, address issues, create economic opportunities, prepare the environment for the work of the public and private sectors, and train the youths. We attach particular importance to foreign relations, continue communicating and exchanging visits with brothers and friends, and mutual interest is always present in all our dialogues.

I urge all influential political actors to avoid wrangling and tensions that are no longer an appropriate way to correct the course of the political process in Iraq, Al-Sudani said.

He also pointed out ,”We will not be against opposing opinions that aim to rectify the state's body, as the voice of opposition characterized by national responsibility is no less important than the supporting voice. We will continue to work as long as there are brave and reliable leaders, as long as our wise religious authority continues its support by providing wisdom, and as long as our security forces of all branches are capable and empowered by the sacrifices of the martyrs.”
