The Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiab Abdullah, discussed with his Iranian counterpart, Ali Akbar Mehrabian, today, Friday, the work of the Third Baghdad International Water Conference.
A statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said: "The Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiab Abdullah, received his Iranian counterpart, Ali Akbar Mehrabian, Minister of Energy in the Islamic Republic of Iran, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel.".
The statement added, "Dhiab welcomed the guests, wishing them a pleasant stay in Baghdad, while he gave a brief explanation of the axes that will be presented within the work of the Third Baghdad International Water Conference, which will start its work tomorrow, Saturday, which emphasizes finding solutions and alternatives that will reduce the effects of climate change and warming." Thermal and activating cooperation and coordination at the regional and global levels in the field of water resources management and the exchange of experiences, data and technical and engineering capabilities.
He continued, "Mehrabian expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Iraqi government for the good reception and hospitality, wishing success for the Baghdad International Water Conference," stressing that "such conferences have positive repercussions that lead to closer bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries, good neighborliness, and open prospects for joint cooperation in the field of water resources management." In the interest of both parties and the optimal use of the visions, ideas and proposals that will be presented to achieve the desired goals aspired by the participants in the conference at all levels.
Dhiab stressed, according to the statement, "the necessity of continuing cooperation and exchanging visits at the ministerial and technical levels, exchanging information and experiences, and benefiting from the experience of Iranian companies in the field of water resources management.".
The statement concluded, "The meeting was attended by the technical advisor of the ministry, Alaeddin Taher Najm, and His Excellency the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad."
