The UN Security Council failed in its session held today, Wednesday, to adopt a ceasefire resolution in Gaza due to an American veto.
The US representative in the Security Council said, "We will not support a resolution to ceasefire in Gaza without the release of the hostages."
All members of the Security Council voted in favor of the proposed draft resolution to ceasefire in Gaza except the United States.
The draft resolution calls on all parties to abide by their responsibilities under international law and to provide basic services and humanitarian assistance to the residents of Gaza Strip, in addition to the parties' commitment to international law and international humanitarian law, especially with regard to the protection of civilians and their property.
