Al-Mashhadani: The importance of the Russian role supporting Iraq regionally, internationally

Speaker of the Parliament Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani stressed on Tuesday the importance of the Russian role in supporting Iraq at the regional and international levels.

Al-Mashhadani received in his office the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev, discussing the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them in various fields, especially the legislative ones, according to a statement by the media office of the Speaker of the Parliament - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

Al-Mashhadani highlighted "the importance of the Russian role in supporting Iraq at the regional and international levels," stressing "the necessity of continuing joint coordination to serve the interests of the two peoples."

"Iraq supports efforts to end the Russian-Ukrainian war and the wars that are raging in the region," he added, calling on "the international community to intervene to end these conflicts."

In turn, Ambassador Kutrashev praised "the depth of historical relations between Iraq and Russia," expressing his country's readiness "to support joint projects between the two countries and contribute effectively to supporting stability and development in Iraq."
