The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) announced on Sunday the commencement of a large-scale security operation to clear and secure areas in western Anbar Province.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the PMF confirmed, "Security forces, in collaboration with the PMF's Anbar Operations Command, represented by the 57th Brigade, and the Western Anbar Operations Command, represented by the 13th, 17th, 18th, and 19th Brigades, alongside several supporting directorates and units, have launched a comprehensive operation to purge western Anbar."
The operation aims to inspect areas within the operational sector, particularly in Al-Qaim district, focusing on locations such as Al-Ka’rah and Wadi Al-Malsi.
The PMF highlighted that "this operation aligns with a strategic initiative to track sleeper terrorist cells and block any potential foothold by closing all security gaps in these regions.
