The Global South Media and Think Tank Forum has issued a declaration calling for stronger representation and a louder voice for the Global South in global governance.
“The media and think tanks of the Global South must firmly defend the group’s common interests and continuously strengthen their voice and influence in world affairs,” the declaration said.
He urged to "strengthen its voices and defend an equal, organized, multipolar world and promote an economic globalization that is "inclusive and beneficial to all."
He added that "harmonious coexistence, exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations are important drivers of human progress and world peace," calling for "respecting cultural diversity, promoting cultural exchanges and cultural dialogue, and advancing human progress through inclusiveness and mutual learning."
He pointed out that "the new wave of technological revolution and industrial transformation is reshaping global economic and social development while imposing unpredictable risks and challenges. The media and research centers must seize opportunities together, face challenges, uphold professional ethics, embrace technological innovation, counter false narratives, and jointly maintain their authority and credibility."
For its part, Xinhua News Agency issued a report titled “The Awakening of the Global South” in Chinese, English, Spanish and Portuguese during the Global South Media and Think Tank Forum.
The report reviews the findings of this year’s Global South Awakening research series by the agency and explains the experiences of countries in the Global South under Western colonial exploitation, their struggle for independence, and their ongoing efforts towards development and advancement.
