The Parliamentary Committee for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances held on Tuesday a dialogue seminar on the dangers of drugs in the presence of the head of the Iraqi Media Network - IMN, Karim Hammadi.

The seminar was entitled - the Beginning of Prevention; Protecting Society from the Scourge of Drugs is a Joint Responsibility, said the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

INA reporter added that the seminar was held in the presence of the head of the Iraqi Media Network, Karim Hammadi, and with the participation of community elites and owners of purposeful content.

"There are many families who cannot announce their children as addicts, so we must all cooperate and everyone works within their responsibility to reduce this very dangerous scourge," said the head of the Committee, Adnan Al-Jahishi, in a speech during the seminar.

Al-Jahishi noted that "the committee hosted several ambassadors and visited several countries to learn about their ideas in combating drugs. This elite has many ideas and proposals that contribute to combating drugs."

"We dealt with the addict as a victim and then they go to rehabilitation centers. We stressed the death penalty for both the provider and the dealer of drugs, as we promoted the Director General of Drugs in the Ministry of Interior to the Deputy Ministry. We also introduced gradual examination in state institutions," he explained.

In turn, the head of the IMN, Karim Hammadi, confirmed in a speech during the seminar "IMN has programs on the subject of combating drugs and will develop them further. The network supports the committee and all efforts to combat drugs. I agree with MP Kadhim Al-Shimmari to reduce the hours of political programs and focus on social programs."

"This work needs loyal citizens and some simple ideas to dry up the sources, since drugs enter through multiple outlets," noting that "some countries manufacture drugs and depend on their resources to export drugs, as Iraq is an environment that receives drugs," he highlighted.

He stressed "the need to follow up and not allow the cultivation of drugs so that they do not become hotbeds that affect our children," explaining that "the dealer has palaces and money, but the user and his family are the ones who are harmed."

"We, in the Iraqi Media Network, believe in the method of media campaigns. Everything is related to combating drugs, whether, by the committee or any campaign through series and programs, the network will broadcast it for free and support it with all its strength," he included in his statement.
