The Iraqi national speedball team has proudly secured a bronze medal at the 35th World Championship, recently held in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
In an official statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Central Iraqi Speedball Federation announced that Anas Omar Dhanoon, a player representing Iraq in the junior singles category, achieved third place in this esteemed international competition, which concluded in Cairo, Egypt. The federation emphasized that winning a bronze medal at the World Championship represents a historic milestone for Iraq, marking an unprecedented achievement across previous participations.
Additionally, the statement noted that Iraq’s national teams, across both senior and junior categories, collectively ranked fourth in the global team classification—an accomplishment that reflects the dedication and skill of Iraqi players and their coaching teams. It was also highlighted that Iraqi athletes engaged in fierce competition with elite international teams, many of whom boast extensive experience in the sport.
It is worth noting that a female Iraqi speedball player previously attained fourth place in the 34th World Championship, held in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2023.
