French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced on Thursday that the international conference held in Paris to support Lebanon resulted in pledges to raise $800 million in humanitarian aid and an additional $200 million for the Lebanese army.
"The war on Lebanon has erased 15 years of growth," Barrot said in press statements.
He added, "We support the full implementation of Resolution 1701 and the deployment of the Lebanese army in the south."
He stressed that "no country can impose the dominance of one party over another in Lebanon."
Barrot pointed out that "it is not reasonable for Lebanon to continue without a president."
