President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid called on the international community today, Wednesday, to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and urgently intervene to stop the war on Palestine and Lebanon.
The media department of the Presidency of the Republic said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "The President of the Republic received the Ambassador of Lebanese Republic to Iraq, Ali Al-Habhab."
Rashid said according to the statement that "the silence of the international community regarding the continued daily bombing and targeting of innocent civilians is no longer acceptable."
The statement added, "The meeting reviewed developments in the regional arena, and the war that Lebanon is facing, as the President renewed Iraq's supportive stance towards Lebanon as part of its commitment to its brothers."
For his part, His Excellency the Ambassador according to the statement presented a briefing on the nature of the situation in Lebanon, appreciating Iraq's official and popular position in supporting Lebanon.
