Joint venture to boost logistics and shipping services in Iraq

    Aramex, the provider of comprehensive transportation and logistics solutions, announced today, Thursday, the launch of a joint project in cooperation with the "Ziad Khalaf Holding Group" in Abu Dhabi; to provide a comprehensive set of services to support local and international companies in Iraq.

    A statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "the world's leading provider of comprehensive transportation and logistics solutions, Aramex, announced the launch of a joint venture in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi-based Ziad Khalaf Holding Group, to provide a comprehensive range of services to support local and international companies in Iraq, including local and international express shipping services, freight services and contract logistics services."

    He added that "the partnership was signed in the presence of Mohamed Juma Al Shamsi, Chairman of Aramex, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, and Ziad Khalaf, Chairman of the International Development Bank and Chairman of Ziad Khalaf Holding Group, at Aramex headquarters, and the signing was witnessed by the presence of executives from both parties."

    “The joint venture will support Aramex’s efforts to strengthen its presence in Iraq and expand its pickup and delivery services by leveraging Ziyad Khalaf Holding Group’s extensive presence in the local market and its ability to reach more than 7,000 points of sale across the country. This network will also facilitate and enhance logistics operations in more than 15 cities in Iraq,” the statement said.

    The partnership aims, according to the statement, to “serve both corporate and individual customers in Iraq. This project will play a pivotal role in enhancing the use of new trade routes and facilitating trade exchange, as well as helping companies enter new markets.”
    Othman Aljeda, CEO of Aramex, said, according to the statement: “We are pleased to partner with Ziyad Khalaf Holding Group to strengthen our presence in the Iraqi market, which is full of strong and promising potential. This partnership will help us grow our solutions and products portfolio, thus contributing to increasing trade exchange and boosting economic growth in Iraq and the region.     In turn, Ziad Khalaf, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Development Bank and Chairman of the Ziad Khalaf Holding Group in Abu Dhabi, stressed that “we are proud of this strategic cooperation and joint venture with Aramex, which reflects the ambition of Ziad Khalaf Holding Group for regional expansion and its pivotal role in enhancing growth by entering new markets. We will work through the sister companies of Ziad Khalaf Holding Group to provide integrated logistics solutions and support operations in Iraq, in addition to facilitating cross-border trade by harnessing all capabilities in the financial, industrial and logistics sectors.”

    Khalaf explained that “it is our responsibility, based on our presence in both our countries, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates, to enhance inter-trade between the two countries and share successful experiences to support the economy, develop trade, increase trade exchange, and encourage investment and joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries,” stressing that “the UAE economy stands on solid ground and a diverse base that qualifies it to achieve more successes and achievements regionally and globally.”
