Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Qais Al-Muhammadawi, confirmed today, Tuesday, that the operation to kill the so-called (Wali of Iraq) by the terrorist ISIS gangs was planned 4 months ago, and while revealing new details about it, he indicated that the organization is in a real collapse and there are no terrorist leaders in Iraq.

Al-Muhammadawi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "This major operation was planned for 4 months, and it is a major qualitative intelligence operation by the Counter-Terrorism and National Security services, under the supervision and planning of the Joint Operations Command, and with continuous guidance and follow-up by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, through more than one meeting and over three months. Its goal is to pursue the remaining ISIS leaders and important elements and choose complex places such as the Hamrin Mountains, which are geographically complex and difficult to reach, and terrorist gangs consider them a haven because they are out of sight. Therefore, this operation is qualitative by all standards in terms of the collapse of the organization and the killing of its leaders, as well as in terms of reaching any spot in Iraq and pursuing terrorists wherever they are.".

He added that "the operation carries a message about the sectors' ability to take control and face upcoming challenges, and the great momentum and experience gained by the heroic sectors," noting that "the operation continued throughout the hours of last night, and there were clashes and movement from one place to another, and the terrorists had fortified positions."

Al-Muhammadawi stated that "the operation also resulted in the destruction of booby-trapping factories and all infrastructure for logistical support, technical materials, communications, equipment and weapons in the location, which was like a private headquarters for the governor of Iraq, Jassim Al-Mazrouei, and eight of the first-line terrorist leaders. Work is now underway to examine and confirm their names," noting that "this operation represents a major and qualitative security achievement and contains important messages about the collapse of ISIS gangs and the ability of the security sectors to seize the initiative."

He pointed out that "ISIS has received approximately 10 painful strikes in recent months, during which many terrorists were killed, including first-line leaders, and the remaining leaders tried to hide in the Hamrin Mountains," stressing that "the organization has lost its leaders and members and is losing any place or shelter to seek refuge in. It is in a state of real collapse and there are no terrorist detachments or leaders in Iraq."

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, announced today, Tuesday, the killing of the so-called "Wali of Iraq" in ISIS in a special operation in the Hamrin Mountains.
