25 Iraqi universities in the QS World Ranking

    The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research - MOHESR announced on Friday the increase of Iraqi universities registered in the QS World Ranking to 25 universities.


    The QS World Ranking announced the results of its version for Arab region universities 2025 in which twenty-five Iraqi universities achieved positive competitive ranks, according to a statement by MOHESR - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.


    The statement added, "The global ranking includes 246 institutions in the Arab region competing according to the indicators of academic reputation 30%, the institution's reputation with employers 20%, the ratio of faculty members to students 15%, the international research network 10%, the impact of the web 5%, the ratio of faculty members who hold a doctorate 5%, citations per research 5%, the number of researches per faculty 5%, the ratio of international faculty members 2.5%, and the ratio of international students 2.5%."

    The results showed "a significant increase in the number of competing Iraqi universities to twenty-five compared to last year's edition, which witnessed the competition of only eighteen universities, while the University of Baghdad obtained the thirty-eighth place in this edition, followed by the universities of Mustansiriya, Basra, Nahrain, Kufa, Babylon, Technology, Anbar, Karbala, Mosul, Furat Awsat Technical, Nineveh, Tikrit, Diyala, Qadisiyah, the Islamic University, Wasit, Iraqiya, Muthanna, Central Technical, Northern Technical, Southern Technical, Fallujah, Kirkuk and Dhi Qar."


    The statement included that, "more than a hundred Iraqi universities and colleges compete with their counterparts in eight global classifications, which made Iraq rank 29th globally in terms of the number of universities classified in the Times World and seventh globally in the Times Sustainable Development classification."
