The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced on Friday, that the participation rate in the special voting for the regional elections has reached 70 percent so far.
The spokesman for the commission, Ayser Yassin, said during a press conference attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The participation rate in the special vote in Erbil has reached 70% so far, and in Sulaymaniyah it has reached 67%," noting that "the participation rate in Dohuk has reached 77% and Halabja 64%."
In turn, the director of the region's elections, Nabard Omar, confirmed that "the devices have worked well since the morning until now," noting that "bringing mobile phones into the polling station is prohibited."
