Acting Speaker of the Parliament Mohsen Al-Mandalawi and Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council Saqr Ghobash agreed on Tuesday to unify Arab diplomatic efforts to stop the Zionist aggression and reduce escalation in the region.

Al-Mandalawi met Ghobash and the accompanying parliamentary delegation, on the sidelines of the 149th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is being held in Geneva, Switzerland from October 12th-17th, 2024, said the media office of the Acting Speaker of the Parliament - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

The meeting discussed the latest security and political developments in the region, and "the Zionist entity's deliberate expansion of the circle of its war, hegemony, and crimes of genocide against the peoples of Lebanon and Palestine."

Al-Mandlawi stressed the "necessity of unifying Arab and Islamic diplomatic efforts and attracting countries that reject the bloody Zionist massacres against children, men and women in Gaza and Lebanon, which have begun to affect the entire humanitarian system and violate international norms and laws," warning of "the possibility of the conflict expanding towards a comprehensive war with devastating effects on all countries of the region and the world."

He said, "The Arab and Islamic nation is in dire need today of a unified and strong position to stand up to the Zionist aggression and focus on the demand to form an international parliamentary committee to visit Gaza and Lebanon, in addition to investigating the extent of the violations that civilians have been subjected to by the Zionists, and presenting them to international courts and the UN Security Council to hold the usurping entity accountable for its terrorist acts."

The statement explained that "the two sides agreed on the necessity of coordination between the Arab parties to secure the needs of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples in terms of medical and food aid to alleviate the suffering they have suffered."
