Central Criminal Court Imposes Life Sentence on Convict for Financing ISIS

The Central Criminal Court issued a life sentence on Sunday, against a convict for the crime of financing ISIS terrorist gangs .

A statement by the Supreme Judicial Council, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the Central Criminal Court issued a life sentence against a convict for the crime of financing ISIS terrorist gangs with sums of money through a company that mediates the sale and purchase of foreign currency with the intent to launder money and finance terrorist operations."

It added that "the ruling was issued based on the provisions of Article 37 and in accordance with Article 1/Tenth of the Anti-Money Laundering Law No. 39 of 2015 and in accordance with Articles 47, 48 and 49 of the Penal Code."
