Palestinian Ambassador to Iraq Ahmed Al-Ruwaidi praised, on Tuesday, the contents of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani's message to the international community and his continued emphasis on the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their state, stressing that Iraq has taken an honorable stand with the Palestinian people since the events of October 7 on the political and humanitarian levels, and its position supports stopping the Zionist aggression and establishing the Palestinian state.

Al-Ruwaidi said in his interview with Al-Iraqiya News, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Iraq has stood and continues to stand with the Palestinian people, both politically and popularly, throughout the year, honorably, as a government and a people, by receiving the wounded from the people of Gaza and providing them with the treatment they need, as well as sending fuel shipments."

He added: "As for politically, Iraqi diplomacy has moved strongly in international institutions, whether in the United Nations or through the International Court of Justice," noting that "what happened after the events of October 7 is a Zionist war of extermination against the Palestinian people to erase them from the map and prevent any possibility of establishing a Palestinian state."

He continued, "What is required now is to stop the aggression against the Palestinian people, urgently bring aid into Gaza, and recognize the Palestinian state. Without its establishment, the region will not enjoy stability we say to the United States: Perpetuating and managing the conflict will not lead to providing security in the region."

Al-Ruwaidi stressed that "Gaza was completely destroyed, more than 42,000 citizens were martyred, 100,000 others were injured, and losses reached 35 billion dollars."

He said that "the Zionist enemy is repeating the Gaza scenario in Lebanon and wants to ignite a war in the region, and we praise and confirm what Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said in his message yesterday to the international community about the consequences of the usurping entity's efforts to expand the war and conflict, and the results of letting it persist in committing crimes and the necessity of stopping the targeting of civilians, and saving the region from the evils of war. The Prime Minister also stressed during his meeting with US President Joe Biden in Washington the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination."

Al-Ruwaidi stressed that "a strong Iraq is a guarantee that Palestine will be fine, and Iraq's positions have been witnessed since the 1940s, and that the Prime Minister's contacts with international parties confirm his support for establishing the Palestinian state and stopping the aggression."
