Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi confirmed today, Friday, that the Iranian bombing targeted only the military sites of the Zionist entity.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran supports Lebanon's efforts to confront the crimes of the entity, and I held good talks with Presidents Mikati and Berri and exchanged views on the latest developments in Lebanon," Araqchi said in a press conference in the Lebanese capital Beirut after meeting with Speaker Berri, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), noting that "Iran will remain by Lebanon's side and by the resistance, and we are confident that the crimes of the entity will fail, and we are certain that the Lebanese people will be victorious.".
He added that "my presence today in Beirut under these difficult circumstances is the best evidence that Iran stands by Hezbollah, and that the Iranian attack on the entity was legitimate self-defense according to the principles of the United Nations," indicating that "the Republic did not start the attack and what we did was in response to targeting Iranian territory, our embassy in Damascus and Iranian interests, and we only targeted military and security centers in the entity.".
He continued, "We have no plans to continue unless the Zionist entity decides to target us, and if the entity takes any action against us, our response will be stronger, proportionate, complete and thoughtful," noting that "Lebanon's current circumstances are unusual, and my visit is not routine. I spoke with Lebanese officials and our ongoing consultations with the rest of the countries to stop the fire."
