Imam Al-Abbas Holy Shrine announced on Wednesday, the dispatch of 400 tons of humanitarian aid to support and relieve the Lebanese people, as part of the second convoy.
Member of the Relief Committee at the shrine, Maitham Al-Zaidi, said in a statement followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The second convoy that was launched by land from the holy Karbala included 40 vehicles carrying 400 tons of relief materials and necessary supplies that the Lebanese people need, in addition to 3 fuel tanks with a capacity of 36 thousand liters."
The statement added, "The campaign comes in response to the call of the supreme religious authority in Najaf, and the directives of the legitimate the Shari'a Custodian of the Abbasid Holy Shrine Sayyed Ahmed al-Safi, to do what contributes to alleviating the suffering of the Lebanese people and securing their humanitarian needs."
It pointed out that "the second convoy was equipped with all the various medical and food supplies needed by the Lebanese displaced, whether they are in Syria or inside Lebanon, in addition to mobile clinics to treat the wounded and try to transfer them to the al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital in the holy Karbala."
