The US State Department confirmed, on Monday, its support for calls for a ceasefire in Lebanon.
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a press conference: "We support calls for a ceasefire in Lebanon, but this requires the consent of both parties to the conflict."
He added, "Our call for a ceasefire does not mean asking one party to stop defending itself," noting that "the proposal for a 21-day ceasefire in Lebanon is still on the table."
