Journalists Syndicate receives congratulations on the 154th anniversary of Iraqi Journalism foundation

    Iraqi Journalists Syndicate received on Thursday congratulations on the occasion of the 154th anniversary of the founding anniversary of the Iraqi journalism .

    The Secretary-General of the Asaib Ahl al-Haq movement, Sheikh Qais Al-Khazali, said, in a tweet, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "On Iraqi Press Day, we extend our best congratulations and blessings to Iraqi journalists on their Day, wishing them more excellence, creativity and success."


    The head of the National Wisdom Movement, Sayyed Ammar Al-Hakim, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We celebrate the 154th anniversary of the establishment of the Iraqi national journalism , we express our pride in its heritage and leadership at the level of the region and the world, stressing the need to ensure freedom of the press in addition to honoring and protecting journalists.”

    On his part, President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zeidan, presented "congratulations and blessings to the Journalists and the Press Syndicate on the occasion of the National Day of the Iraqi journalism ," wishing them "permanent success."

    In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Muhsin Al-Mandalawi congratulated the Journalists Syndicate and the press and media family, on the occasion of Iraqi Press Day, and the 154 years since the issuance of the first issue of Al-Zawra newspaper in 1869, stressing "the Parliament is keen to support journalists, protect them, and facilitate their role and calling on journalists to "support the efforts of the legislative and executive authorities in the battle to expose the corrupt.”


    In turn, the Minister of Defense, Thabit Mohammed Al-Abbasi, congratulated "the press family in Iraq on the occasion of the passage of the 154th anniversary of the founding anniversary of the Iraqi press, whose first nucleus were launched through Al-Zawra newspaper with the issuance of its first issue in 1869 AD, adding that we must recall the heroic and courageous positions presented by Iraqi journalists, especially during the liberation battles fought by the sons of the armed forces to liberate Iraqi territory from the defilement of terrorism.”

    He pointed out, "The media in Iraq presented many heroic martyrs who gave their blood as sacrifices to convey the truth and reveal the falsity and lies of terrorism."

    He continued: "Today, as we talk about the heroes of the Iraqi press, we must also refer to their honorable positions at all times and during crises, as the press was the real support of the people and the tireless defender in demanding their rights."


    The Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Planning, Muhammad Ali Tamim, also congratulated the press family on its 154th national day, on the anniversary of the publication of the first Iraqi newspaper, Al-Zawra newspaper, on June 15, 1869.

    In his congratulations to Iraqi journalists, Tamim called for "the importance of taking advantage of the high ceiling of freedom enjoyed by the Iraqi press, which is guaranteed by the constitution, guaranteeing the rights of journalists, and allowing them to perform their tasks, and enabling them to access information, as an effective authority and a real partner in achieving development and serving the citizen."

    Tamim praised, "the efforts and sacrifices made by the journalistic family in Iraq in various fields," praising "the outstanding performance of Iraqi journalists, who have proven great courage while performing their tasks in all fields, with high professionalism."

    He pointed to "the importance of the supervisory role of the media, in diagnosing challenges and cons and explaining them to public opinion and concerned authorities, and lighting on the positive aspects in the stages of work of the public and private sectors."

    He stressed "the need to make this occasion an opportunity to recall and celebrate the basic principles of a free press, its lofty values, and to assess the journalistic reality in harmony with freedom of opinion," expressing "his wishes to the Iraqi journalistic family more progress and prosperity."


    The Minister of Education, Ibrahim Names Al-Jubouri, said in a tweet on his Twitter page, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “From our educational platform to the owners of professional pens, I extend to you my warmest congratulations and sincere wishes for continued brilliance in delivering your free word, on the occasion of the Journalism Day and the 154th anniversary of the issuance of the first newspaper bearing the name Al-Zawraa.

    The Minister of Education called for "consolidating efforts to invest the energies of our promising generation and paint a bright picture befitting the status of Iraqi educators, and mercy and forgiveness for the martyrs of the press who gave their lives as offerings to the homeland."

    The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Special Forces Yehiya Rasool, said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "on the occasion of the passage of 154 years of creativity and excellence for the Iraqi press, I congratulate and salute all the press family and media professionals who back and support the work of the security services with their pens that  quoted the truth".
