SMC: The Iraqi Army has high capabilities to Protect the Country

    The Security Media Cell(SMC) confirmed, on Sunday, that the Iraqi army possesses high capabilities to protect the security and safety of the country, while indicating that there are ongoing government efforts and the allocation of large funds to develop the air force by purchasing advanced and modern systems.
     
    The head of SMC, Major General Tahseen Al-Khafaji, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "There is great interest from the political and military leadership, headed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, in increasing air defense capabilities."
     
    He pointed out that "large sums of money have been allocated by the state to develop the Iraqi Air Force and purchase advanced radars and advanced missile systems, in addition to improving current capabilities through continuous training and purchasing new weapons."
     
     Al-Khafaji added that "building air defense requires time and great financial efforts, but it reflects the government's commitment to protecting the security and safety of the country."
     
    He pointed out that "there is great interest from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces in allocating budgets for air defense development projects," noting that "cooperation has been made with advanced companies in this regard, such as South Korean companies, which provide advanced technologies that compete with global systems."
     
     Al-Khafaji stressed that "the Iraqi army has high capabilities and capacities, and there is a diversity of equipment, including Russian, Korean, American systems and French radars, which enhances the ability to protect the airspace and vital targets, in addition to the importance of continuous military training."
