National Security Adviser, Qasim Al-Araji, chaired a meeting today, Saturday, for the heads of the subcommittees to combat violent extremism.
A statement from Al-Araji's office received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji chaired a meeting of the heads of the subcommittees to combat violent extremism, to exchange visions and ideas to limit the phenomena alien to Iraqi society that threaten peace and social fabric.".
The statement added that "the meeting discussed the measures to limit the activity of deviant religious movements active in some governorates and the legal measures to confront the spread of these movements, as well as emphasizing the importance of continuous awareness of their danger.".
