Asaad Al-Eidani, the governor of Basra, declared on Friday that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's visit is historic and will live on in the memories of future generations.
"This historic visit will remain stuck in the minds of generations," Al-Aidani said during a speech at the ceremony to receive the Iranian president, which the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reporter attended. He also noted that "we will be highly responsible for advancing the interest of the two countries and peoples."
He noted that "the positions of Iraq and the Islamic Republic are one in the service of the Islamic nation and confronting the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip," he continued, "We are working in integration with the Islamic Republic to achieve the interest of the two countries."
