A celebration of Diyala's Iraqi heroine daughter, Najla Imad

    Diyala Governorate celebrated, today, Thursday, the Iraqi champion Najla Imad, who won the gold medal in table tennis at the Paris Paralympics, while she was honored by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Naeem Al-Aboudi, with a study seat.

    The Iraqi champion, Najla Imad, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "I thank everyone who supported me and stood by me to achieve this accomplishment, especially the Prime Minister, the Minister of Youth and Sports, the Paralympic Committee, and the Minister of Higher Education for granting me a study seat according to a ministerial order to accept me in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences. Today, I was honored to visit the University of Mesopotamia in Baqubah; because they were among the first supporters in achieving the world championship.".

    She added, "I thank the presidency of the University of Mesopotamia, and I especially thank Hajj Salman Al-Lahibi and Dr. Rasha, the President of the University, for the warm welcome and hospitality. I was honored with the Creativity Shield by the university, and this will be an incentive and support for me to complete my university studies with excellence.".

    For his part, Dr. Abdul Sattar Jassim, Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Mesopotamia, said: "The University of Mesopotamia and its College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences were honored to receive the world champion and Iraq, the daughter of Diyala, Najla Imad, who achieved the global accomplishment and raised the flag and reputation of Iraq in the international forum in Paris and won the gold medal in table tennis and entered history.".

    He added, "We hope that this champion will be a symbol and a tough number among Iraqi and international athletes, and we extend our thanks to the Minister of Higher Education who honored the champion Najla with a seat in higher education.".

    Last Saturday, the Iraqi player Najla Imad won the gold medal in the table tennis competitions at the Paralympic Games in Paris.
