PM: Iraq is open to all activities achieving Arab economic integration

    INA - BAGHDAD

    PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani met on Tuesday, the Egypt's Deputy PM, Minister of Transport and Industry, Kamel El-Wazir, along with heads of several major Egyptian companies specializing in roads, construction, and bridges, according to a statement by the PM Media Office - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    Al-Sudani emphasized that "this visit reflects the strong brotherly relationship between Iraq and Egypt, which serves as a cornerstone for benefiting both nations," highlighting the commitment of both countries' leaderships to fostering serious cooperation, noting that "Iraq's doors are open to all initiatives aimed at achieving Arab economic integration."

    "Iraq is currently experiencing unprecedented progress in development and reconstruction. It is important to form a task force to plan and monitor projects that could be executed by Egyptian companies in Iraq," he noted.

    In turn, the Egyptian Minister of Transport conveyed the greetings of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and PM Mustafa Madbouly to PM Al-Sudani, affirming that "the visit builds on the progress made during the Prime Minister's recent trip to Cairo and reflects Egypt's strong desire to expand cooperation with Iraq, in line with President El-Sisi's directives."

    He also expressed his commitment to finalizing a Memorandum of Understanding with Iraq's Ministry of Transport regarding road and rail transport, saying "Egypt is ready to actively contribute to the execution of the Development Road Project."

    The delegation accompanying El-Wazir included representatives from 14 major companies, out of 100 Egyptian companies that have expressed interest in participating in projects in Iraq. These companies expressed their readiness to share their expertise and collaborate with Iraq on various projects.
