INSS captures terrorists in Baghdad and Nineveh

    Iraqi National Security Service-INSS announced on Tuesday, the arrest of terrorists in Baghdad and Nineveh.
     
    In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), INSS stated, "Through intelligence efforts and field monitoring to pursue the remnants of ISIS terrorist gangs, INSS units in Baghdad carried out a significant operation that resulted in the capture of an ISIS terrorist nicknamed (Abu Anas Al-Iraqi)."
    The statement noted that "the terrorist operated within what was called the Salah al-Din Province and is wanted under Article (4 of anti- Terrorism law).
     
    The statement added that "the aforementioned terrorist had been moving between the provinces of Salah al-Din, Anbar, and Baghdad. He was injured in one of the battles against our security forces in Samarra, and then moved to Tarmiya district north of Baghdad, where he worked in the Resistance of Armor units, specializing in the use and training of the (SBG9) weapon."

     It explained that "after the liberation operations concluded, the terrorist returned to Baghdad to forge his official documents and impersonate his deceased brother, issuing a forged death certificate in his real name. However, our personnel were vigilant and apprehended him."
     
    The statement also mentioned that "the service's units were able, based on precise intelligence information, to arrest a member of the ISIS terrorist gangs who had been hiding in a farm in the Makhmour district of Nineveh since the conclusion of the liberation operations."
     It clarified that "the arrested terrorist, nicknamed (Alawi Shat), was working as an administrative supervisor in the so-called Northern Baghdad Province and participated in several terrorist operations targeting security forces and citizens. He also attacked the Karakh water project in the Tarmiya district with mortar shells."
     
    The statement further stated that, "During the investigation process, the accused confessed to also undertaking tasks related to the distribution of monthly sponsorships and providing logistical support to the terrorist units present in the Tarmiya orchards." 
    The statement concluded by noting that "the suspects have been referred to the relevant judicial authorities to take the necessary legal measures against them."
