Advisor to the Prime Minister: AstraZeneca is planning to build a pharmaceutical factory in Iraq

    Advisor to the Prime Minister for Industry and Private Sector Development Hammoudi Al-Lami confirmed on Monday the desire of Arab and international companies to enter the Iraqi market, while pointing out that AstraZeneca International is considering establishing a factory for the production of medicines in Iraq.

      Al-Lami told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "A meeting was held a month ago with representatives of the international company AstraZeneca, and a study was initiated for the purpose of entering the Iraqi market, either through the establishment of their own production factory or participation with the Iraqi private sector," noting that "there is a great desire for international companies, to enter the Iraqi market."

    He stressed that "the American company (Baxter) has also expressed its desire, as well as Gulf companies, and now a real and in-depth study is being conducted on the mechanism of its entry into the market," pointing out that "the number of factories until the formation of this government amounted to 24 factories, but during the era of the current government, there are 18 factories under construction at different stages."  

    He pointed out that "76 new requests were received from the government to establish pharmaceutical factories in various provinces."
