Baghdad Airport Passports: PM directed to remove obstacles facing travelers arriving for the Arbaeen Pilgrimage

    The Director of Residence and Passports at Baghdad International Airport, Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Kanani, announced on Tuesday, the opening of new halls to reduce the congestion on pilgrim arriving to the country, while indicating that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani directed to remove obstacles facing travelers arriving for the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
     
    Al-Kanani told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Under the direction of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior, obstacles were removed for travelers arriving for the Arbaeen pilgrimage, all routine obstacles were removed, and assistance was provided according to the regulations for all pilgrim arriving to visit Imam Hussein (peace be upon him)," indicating that "there is joint cooperation at Baghdad Airport between the Intelligence Service, Passports, Ports and the Director of Baghdad International Airport, and other halls were opened to reduce the congestion," noting that "workers and employees at Baghdad International Airport took the initiative to distribute dry food and juices to travelers arriving from foreign pilgrim."
     
    He stated that "there is great cooperation with the supporting agencies at Baghdad International Airport by correcting the error and removing obstacles," noting that "the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior directed to provide assistance to all pilgrim according to the regulations." 
     
    He added that "Baghdad International Airport receives approximately 7-8 thousand pilgrim daily since the beginning of the Arbaeen pilgrimage," explaining that "about 100 thousand pilgrim have arrived so far to the Arbaeen pilgrimage through Baghdad International Airport, and the airport is still receiving pilgrim." 
     
    He continued that "the Minister of Interior was granted the authority to reduce the routine for pilgrim to Imam Hussein (peace be upon him)."
