Diwaniyah Police Command announced today, Friday, the discovery of 4 archaeological pieces dating back to different historical eras.
The provincial police commander, Major General Najah Mahmoud Sultan, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Antiquities and Heritage Protection Department in Diwaniyah found 4 rare artifacts dating back to ancient historical eras during inspection tours in the Al-Afak sector," noting that "the artifacts are a pottery jar, a cylindrical pottery lamp with a small handle, the third is a circular pottery lamp resembling a plate, and the fourth was a pottery plate in the shape of a standing woman.".
He pointed out that "a formal seizure report was prepared, and the artifacts were handed over to the Diwaniyah Antiquities and Heritage Inspectorate Directorate."
