Pakistan rocked by twin earthquakes

    According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, Islamabad, the first earthquake, which registered a magnitude of 5 on the Richter scale, struck at a depth of 35 kilometres. The epicentre was located 106 kilometres south of Zhob. 

    According to the US Geological Survey, this earthquake struck 61 kilometres north of the Kohlu district at a depth of just 10km. 

    Less than an hour later, a second tremor, measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale, hit the same area. This quake had a bigger depth of 151km and its epicentre was 79km south of Zhob. 

    The back-to-back tremors have raised concerns among the local population, though no immediate reports of damage or casualties have been received. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and advising residents to stay alert for any aftershocks.
