The leader of the Shiite National Movement, Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr, stressed on Tuesday that Imam Ali (Peace be upon him) belongs to all of humanity, while expressing gratitude to Iraqis for the success of the Eid al-Ghadir holiday project.
Al-Sadr stated in a speech on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadir, as reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Praise be to Allah who made us adherents to the guardianship of Ali (Peace be upon him), and Allah has blessed us with having a holiday in our beloved Iraq on the day of Ghadir, when the Prophet appointed Imam Ali as his successor."
He further emphasized that "Imam Ali (peace be upon him) belongs not only to Sunni and Shiite Muslims, but to humanity as a whole."
"I must express my gratitude to the Iraqi people for the success of the Eid al-Ghadir holiday project, and I especially commend the righteous people of Iraq who supported us in their love for the homeland, resistance against occupiers, moderation, and rejection of sectarianism." He emphasized, "Imam Ali (PBUH) belongs not only to Muslims but to all of humanity. As for us Iraqis, we are united by our homeland, the Prophet, our love for Imam Ali, and our commitment to moderation."
