Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani chaired a meeting today, Sunday, with the committee tasked with lifting the European ban on Iraqi Airways.
“The Prime Minister was briefed on the measures taken by the specialized committee and the efforts to lift the ban and its requirements. These measures include developing the work of Iraqi Airways, automating all its sections, repairing and maintaining aircraft, continuing efforts to develop the capabilities of the company's staff and facilities, and enhancing the level of services provided to passengers, aligning with the status and role of Iraqi Airways as a cultural representation of Iraq,” stated the Media Office of the Prime Minister in a statement, received By The Iraqi News Agency-INA.
“Prime Minister Al-Sudani emphasized the necessity of meeting the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as soon as possible, keeping pace with global developments in air transport for passengers and cargo, and working according to specified timelines to set and achieve targets,” the statement added.
The Prime Minister stressed that lifting the ban on Iraqi Airways is a matter of great importance to the government, a matter that cannot be neglected. He stated that legal actions would be taken against those failing to meet the requirements and follow up on this issue.
