Finance Minister, Taif Sami, stressed on Tuesday the necessity of strengthening relations and expanding aspects of cooperation with the United Kingdom and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Sami received the British Ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Hitchcock, where aspects of cooperation and ways to enhance relations between the two countries were discussed, according to the Ministry of Finance statement - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The Finance Minister stressed "the importance of the United Kingdom's contribution to developing various economic sectors in Iraq, including the banking sector, energy sector and investment," noting "the necessity of consolidating bilateral economic relations between the two countries."
In turn, the British Ambassador expressed his country's keenness to continue cooperation in many economic fields, especially with the availability of an economic and investment work environment in Iraq.
Sami also with the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Nasir Mammadov, where they exchanged views on activating economic dealings between Iraq and Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on activating economic agreements between Iraq and Azerbaijan, the need to strengthen relations between the two countries and activate economic agreements in various sectors of common interest.
"The ministry is keen to open the doors of cooperation and foreign investment to support the Iraqi economy, by the government program seeking to strengthen and develop the Iraqi economy in various fields," Sami noted.
For his part, the Azerbaijani ambassador stressed his country's keenness to continue cooperation with Iraq, exchange expertise and provide investment opportunities between the two countries.
