The Iraqi drilling company-I.D.C explained, on Friday, the importance and impact of the inauguration of the largest drilling rig in Iraq (IDC57) on the production process in the Majnoon field.
The director general of the Iraqi drilling company, Khaled Hamza Abbas, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the 57-IDC drilling rig with a 3000 horsepower is currently the largest device inside Iraq with this capacity" ,pointing out that "the device has the ability to drill greater depths compared to devices with a lower capacity (1500-2000) horsepower because all its equipment is equipped for this purpose.
"Such devices are mostly used for drilling deep exploratory and evaluation wells because they have the technical ability and capability to address subsurface situations and problems that occur during drilling operations"Abbas added.
Regarding the impact of the operation of this device in the Majnoon field on the production process, Abbas stressed that "the device will provide geological information about the rock layers in the Artawi Reservoir and the Yamama Reservoir, which will be based on the reservoir studies of the above field, and in the event of commercial oil evidence, this will enhance the capacity of the field and add new oil reserves to the energy currently in the explored and produced reservoirs”.
I.D.C announced, on Tuesday (May 21, 2024), the inauguration of the largest drilling rig in Iraq, IDC 57 with 3000 horsepower in the Majnoon oil field.
