Wasit Criminal Court issued, on Sunday, a death sentence against drug dealers.
The court said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Wasit Criminal Court issued a death sentence against two convicts for the crime of Bringing narcotic substances into Iraq across the border", indicating that "the convicts were seized in possession of 20 kg of narcotic opium”.
"The ruling was issued based on the provisions of Article 27/First of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017and the indication of articles 47, 48 and 49 of the Penal Code”, the statement added.
