The Wasit Criminal Court issued on Tuesday, a life imprisonment sentence against a drug dealer.
The Supreme Judicial Council stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “the convict was found in possession of two (2) bags of the narcotic substance methylamphetamine, with the intention of trading it and selling it among drug users.”
The statement added, "The ruling was issued based on the provisions of Article 27/First of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017 and in reference to Articles 47, 48, and 49 of the Penal Code."
