Al-Mandalawi confirms the Parliament full support of media freedom and the journalistic family protection

Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, the Acting Speaker of the Parliament confirmed, on Friday, the Parliament  full support for media freedom and the journalistic family protection in Iraq.

"We extend our deepest congratulations to the Iraqi journalistic family and the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, recalling the great sacrifices of journalists from Iraq, Palestine and the world who gave their lives as redemption for the sincere word and in defense of the freedom of their peoples", al-Mandalawi stated in a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).  

Al-Mandalawi confirmed " the Parliament  full support for media freedom and the journalistic family protection in Iraq through the adoption of sober legislation that prevents any coercive measures against them and ensures their safety; with the aim of building a free and impartial press capable of achieving justice and peace, fighting corruption and extremist ideas, as well as contributing strongly to the process of building the country and the success of its democratic experience”, according to the statement.
